Type 2 - Surge Protection Devices (SPDs) are electrical devices designed to protect individual circuits and equipment from lower-level voltage surges caused by switching events, power outages, and other electrical disturbances.
They are typically installed at the distribution panel or subpanel level, providing protection for specific circuits and equipment.
It's important to note that while Type 2 SPDs can provide excellent protection against lower-level surges, they may not be able to handle high-energy surges caused by lightning strikes or other extreme events.
To provide comprehensive protection against all types of surges, it's recommended to install a combination of Type 1, Type 2, and Type 3 SPDs throughout the electrical system
